Laser Dentistry: Frenectomy and Gingivectomy
A frenectomy is a common procedure perfomed by dentists across the county. A frenectomy is simply the removal of a frenum inside the mouth. A frenum is a little muscular attachment between two tissues. There are two frena (the plural form of frenum) in the mouth that can sometimes obstruct normal function and are candidates for frenectomies. This is under the tongue and also between the upper lip and upper gum line. These are currently performed by quick and safe laser dentinstry.
A gingivectomy may be necessary for you when the gums have pulled away from the teeth creating deep pockets. The pockets make it hard to clean away plaque and calculus. A Gingivectomy is usually done before gum disease has damaged the bone supporting the teeth. There is a great success rate in the gingivectomy category.

Mouthguards and Nightguards (TMJ)
TMJ is a joint disorder located in the jaw. This disorder is treateable with Mouth Guards. Mouth Guards or Night Guards are specifically designed mouth pieces for an individual who grinds or bites hard on their teeth while sleeping. These customized mouth pieces are successful in preventing enamel damage and unhealthy wear and tear on your teeth.
Dental Implants are commonly used for people who are missing one or more teeth. An implant is surgically placed in an opening that your dentist makes in the jawbone. After the implant integrates (attaches) to your bone, it acts as a new "root" for the crown that will replace your missing tooth. This is a great long term treatment of dental loss.
A denture is a removable replacement for missing teeth and surrounding tissues. Two types of dentures are available -- complete and partial dentures. Complete dentures are used when all the teeth are missing, while partial dentures are used when some natural teeth remain but another grouping or section of teeth are missing. Dentures have come a long way since the days of our grandparents dentures. They are a real option in long term dental health.
